The credit crisis Comment this section

The credit crisis is produced, in first place, in the context of stagnation or decrement of the real salaries, but they can maintain their acquiring capacity through easy credits (mortgages, credit cards, consumption credits) and a strong indebtedness. All these facts bring the house purchases to be payed with easy and cheap mortgages.

In this way, the high risk operations are formalized.

But comes a time that, due to that USA need high interest rates to offer financial products to finance their astronomical fiscal and trade debts, the population suffers of an increment of the interest rates that increase their mortgage payment, an increment of their life cost that decreases their purchasing capacity and prevents the increasing of their indebtedness, while their real salaries decrease even more.

The poorest people of the middle class begin not to pay, specially the mortgage fees. This will lead not to trust the financial assets that had been exchanging all over the world because of when they are analyzed to see what they contain, they contain a big quantity of bad assets that have been mixed with other better financial assets and all the financial world suffers the consequences of this.

When the first problems appear, the financial institutions distrust completely between themselves, the loans disappear between them, and all the financial mechanism is collapsed, because it is based on the confidence between the financial institutions. No financial institution gives credit because of this collapse. Some because they can't: they've lost many money already, and some others because they don't trust the other institution. The poorest consumers can't get more indebted. The ones who have more possibilities doesn't get any credit to be able to keep consuming because the credit is frozen. The world's financial system is in such a deep crisis.

The population suffers of an increment of the interest rates that increase their share, as well as an increment of their life cost that decreases their purchasing capacity and prevents the increasing of their indebtedness, while their real salaries decrease even more.

Income statement comparison Comment this section

Income statement comparison

At the end of 2012, the company A had 240 000€ in sales, and 80 000€ in cost of sales, making its gross profit in 160 000€, smaller than the company B's gross profit, which is 177 000€, coming up from a 355 000€ in sales and 178 000 in cost of sales. This little difference in the gross profit is because of the small cost of sales of the A company.

The selling expenses of the company A are much higher than the ones of the company B (90 000€ - 49 000€). However, the administrative expenses of the company A are smaller than the ones in the company B, 20 000€ to 45 000€.

Both companies have a profit operating, the A has 60 000€, whereas the B has 103 000€. We must add 12 000€ to the profit of the company B in concept of its finance incomes. This raises the total profit before taxation of the company B to 91 000€, whilst the company A's total profit also raises, in this case to 100 000€ due to its finance incomes, which are worth 40 000€.

After applying a 30% taxation charges, the total profit of the company A is 70 000€, a bit higher than the company B's profit, which is 63 700€.

ELEVATOR PITCH

Hi, my name is Marc. I'm going to start a new company called Happy&Healthy Fruit where we will sell only ecologic fruit, which is healthier. I'll be the owner of the company and we will sell our products online across the community in Catalonia with the chance of growing and expanding to the Spanish National Market.

Our competitors will be the other companies that sell fruit, but we will have the advantage of providing our consumers the fruit for free.

I would need your help in supplying  12 000€ of start-up fees and supplier costs.

Producers-filmmakers negotiation Comment this section

As producers, we wanted the 70% of the total incomes of the film plus a 120% return on the investment in a 5 years term. But after the discussion, where the filmmakers initially wanted a 60% for them and 40% for us, we made a deal letting a 45% for them and 55% for us, with a 110% return on investment.

We didn't really care about the film's title. Our proposition was "Friends forever", but we are just producers, and they are professionals, so we decide to better let them do it, who surely have more skills to put attracting titles to catch audience. Same with location for the film. So the deal was to do it in Paris under the name they prefer.

We didn't had any disagreement during the negotiation of the payment of instalments, which will be: a 50% when the pre-production begins, a 20% at the start of the production stage, a 15% at the beginning of post-production and a 15% will be reserved for marketing and promotion.

About the director of the film, we were in favor of the filmmakers' proposition, Charles. Filmmakers also want him to write the music, and we told them we wanted to have a famous band, but it would cost so much extra money, and we've taken the decision of letting Charles write the music.

The cinematographer and the camera assistants are very important for us, to ensure a good movie. But, as filmmakers told us, it will have a high cost to hire professional staff; and the filmmakers have some colleagues to do it, so we'll trust the filmmakers' colleagues.

Our idea is to have top film actors from the countries concerned, and we would persuade them to take low salaries and shares of the film's profits. However, the filmmakers recommend us to get 2 unknown actors, and a director Charles' friend to be the third main character, who's well known in Europe and will do it for a low salary; this will highly reduce costs. So after the negotiation, we'll hire 2 unknown actors plus Charles' friend.

As we negotiated before, a 15% of our payment should be retained to cover marketing costs. The filmmakers didn't disagree on this point.

In the film we will show as many companies' branding as we receive offers for. We would like to have at least eight. No problem for the filmmakers.
